Miami Sweeps Kansas City

The Miami Marlins ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Kansas City Royals 9-3 to win the World Series.

Miami won the series 4-0, capturing the title for the 3rd time.

"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Miami manager Pat Padula. "It's a great feeling."

The champs finished the regular season 101-61 and claimed first place in the National League East Division.

In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and left fielder Steven Kwan said the Marlins have "great fans and they deserve this."

"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.

Royals Advance to World Series

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers didn't hold back anything in the League Championship Series, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the World Series.

Kansas City won the final game by a score of 8-2 at Kauffman Stadium and that concluded the series, 4-3.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Kansas City left fielder Luke Raley said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Texas deserves credit for the hard fight."

Raley paced the Kansas City offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .286 with a .310 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 7 runs.

The Kansas City Royals will play against the Miami Marlins in the next round. Miami won their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks 4 games to 3. The World Series is scheduled to begin on October 27th , 2023.
