Seattle Triumphs in Round 4

With a 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals tonight at Safeco Field, the Seattle Mariners wrapped up their 1st title in team history.
Seattle left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Mariners celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as Seattle celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.
"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Seattle Mariners," the mayor said.
The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the American League West Division and a 102-60 record.

MLB News Flash: Draft Pool Revealed

Scouts have begun to salivate. The list of players for the first-year player draft has been released by the league office and speculation is already beginning about who will end up as the first pick. The list has been posted under the transaction section of the BNN site and will be there for the next 30 days leading up to draft day.
Teams now have a chance to scout the draft pool 5 days before the draft is held.
The early favorites to be high picks are the following:
1. Joe Baylark, 18 year-old RHP out of high-school.
2. Lupe Vargas, 21 year-old 3B out of college.
3. Esteban Mascarinas, 18 year-old CF out of high-school.
4. Luis Figueroa, 21 year-old RF out of college.
5. Ignacio Akande, 18 year-old 1B out of high-school.
6. Rodolfo Silva, 21 year-old CF out of college.
7. Sergio Rivera, 18 year-old CF out of high-school.
8. Jaheim Raphiel, 18 year-old 1B out of high-school.
9. Ernesto Romero, 21 year-old RF out of college.
10. Sergio Becerra, 18 year-old RF out of high-school.
