De Leon Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Thursday, May 14th, 2020 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Michael De Leon, it came around today. The 23-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Calvin Falwell Field to pace the Charlotte Stone Crabs to a 13-2 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats. Lynchburg skipper told reporters in the press room that "De Leon deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, De Leon hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Michael De Leon doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Matt Frisbee in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. |
