Nationals Win at Los Angeles, 4-2
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, knocking off the Los Angeles Angels, 4-2. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Yu Darvish, who played a pivotal role in the win. Darvish, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Kyle Crick collected his 12th save.
Evan Longoria, who is a three-time Great Glove Award winner, aided the Washington cause with a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 5 with a triple.
"Yu -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Nationals manager Maurice Hamilton. "He was the key to us winning."
Washington now has a record of 24-16 with the win.
