Brewers Lose to Nationals, 5-3
|
The Washington Nationals beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3, at Nationals Park. The Nationals got a fine performance from shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, who was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jeremy Jeffress, now 2-1, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Washington now has a record of 34-26 with the win.
With Washington leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Hechavarria came up to bat against Milwaukee pitcher Collin McHugh. Hechavarria hit a fastball to left for a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season put the Nationals on top, 4-2.
"This is a very good team," said Hechavarria. "We have the chance to do something special."
