The St. Louis Cardinals got a magnificent effort from pitcher Chris Bassitt, who kept Philadelphia hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Cardinals win at Busch Stadium. The last-place Cardinals improved to 17-25.
Adeiny Hechavarria, who leads the NL in triples with 5, aided the St. Louis cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 3 with a home run.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Philadelphia manager Anthony Cepperalo.
