Nationals Get Close Win Over Phillies
|
Washington and Philadelphia duked it out at Nationals Park and the Nationals came out victorious.
Washington center fielder Aaron Hicks picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5. Reliever Jake McGee picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Nate Jones took the loss. The save was Aaron Loup's, his 1st.
Andrew Benintendi, who is on pace for 201 hits this season, aided the Washington cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder was 1-4 with a home run.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Hicks said.
The Nationals have an impressive 21-12 record.
