Padres Need Extra Frames to Get Past Giants
|
San Diego beat San Francisco on the strength of starter Josh Tomlin's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The winner was San Diego reliever Archie Bradley, now 2-0. The loser was Luke Gregerson. Chase Whitley earned the save, his 1st, for the Padres.
The Padres got a big at-bat from right fielder Mitch Haniger. For the game, Haniger went 2-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave San Diego a 3-1 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Haniger said after the game.
The Padres, now 22-10, have been playing some good baseball.
