Alonso has 3 RBI, Nationals Move to 15-8
|
The Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants, 12-8, at AT&T Park. The Nationals got a fine performance from first baseman Yonder Alonso, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Washington reliever Adam Morgan was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Michael Wacha took the loss for San Francisco. The Nationals raised their record to 15-8.
Alonso contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Washington in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Alonso took a fastball from Michael Wacha and stroked the home run to right-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Nationals to leap in front, 6-4.
"We maximized our offense today," said Washington skipper Josh Fisher. "That makes everyone's life easier."
