|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a stellar performance from pitcher Jordan Lyles, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a 8-2 win at Progressive Field. Lyles went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. The Blue Jays raised their record to 12-3.
Nicholas Castellanos hit a bases-clearing triple off Ervin Santana in the top of the sixth, which put the Blue Jays in front, 5-2. Castellanos had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"I thought we played a nice game," Castellanos told the Toronto Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
