Encarnacion Helps Reds Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Cincinnati Reds trumped the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-5, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati first baseman Edwin Encarnacion was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Cincinnati reliever Tyler Duffey was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Cory Gearrin took the loss. The Cardinals fall to 5-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The Reds got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Colby Rasmus. For the game, Rasmus went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 6-5 lead.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Rasmus said. "We did a good job of that today."
