Reds Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3. Starting pitcher Danny Salazar was an essential part of his team's success. Salazar picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Ken Giles recorded his 3rd save for Cincinnati.
The Reds got a big at-bat from shortstop Trea Turner. For the game, Turner went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 4-3 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said St. Louis skipper John Mondo, "and it cost us."
The Cardinals fall to 5-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2018 season.
