Giants Nip Mariners, 5-4
|
In a close game at AT&T Park, the San Francisco Giants edged the Seattle Mariners, 5-4. San Francisco second baseman Dustin Pedroia earned the nod as player of the game. He was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Chris Devenski got credit for the save for San Francisco. It was his 1st of the year. San Francisco goes to 4-1 with the win.
Nelson Cruz, who is a four-time All-Star, aided the San Francisco cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 1 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Seattle manager Kirk Shuck.
