Cleveland Tags Seattle with 6-1 Defeat
|
The 2023 season did not get off to quite the start the Seattle Mariners had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Cleveland Guardians at Safeco Field. The final score was 6-1. Center Fielder Estevan Florial was the top performer for Cleveland. The win was credited to Bowden Francis in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Garrett Cleavinger took the loss.
Florial put Cleveland up, 6-1, when he hit a grand slam home run off Garrett Cleavinger in the top of the seventh. His 1st home run of the season helped the Guardians capture the win.
"We'll grab a barley pop and savor this win," said Florial.
