Floundering Phillies Lose 9th Straight
Behind a solid performance from left fielder David Peralta, the Washington Nationals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 12-4. Peralta was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Nationals. Washington reliever Andrew Chafin was the winner. His record is now 7-5. The losing pitcher was Thomas Szapucki. Philadelphia now has a 9-game losing streak.

David Peralta was involved in some late-game drama. With no one out in the bottom of the eighth, Peralta hit a run-scoring double. It helped Washington snatch the win.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Washington manager Ryan DePretis.
