Phillies Drop 9-6 Decision
|
Philadelphia third baseman Justin Turner had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-6, to Washington at Nationals Park. Turner was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Ryne Nelson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 8-3. The current losing streak for Philadelphia has reached 8 games.
Michael A. Taylor had a big 2-run triple for the Nationals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Washington leading 5-4 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from John Schreiber and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 7-4.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Taylor said after the game.
