Red Sox Hand Yankees 7-5 Loss
|
Charlie Blackmon did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from losing, 7-5, to the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Blackmon went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Darren McCaughan. He's now 3-11. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits for the Red Sox. Ben Brown was credited with the save, his 8th in 10 tries.
Jose Altuve had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth for Boston. With the bases loaded and the Red Sox leading 6-5, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Altuve, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Yankees have now dropped 6 straight.
