Jeffers Hits Two Dingers, Blue Jays Win, 6-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays stopped the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, at Great American Ball Park. The Blue Jays got a big game from Ryan Jeffers, who went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Toronto reliever Jay Groome was the winner. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Marco Gonzales. Stephen Nogosek earned the save, his 1st in 3 tries.
Jeffers came through for the Blue Jays in the top of the fifth inning. With Toronto trailing 2-1, the catcher hit a 2-run home run. It made the score 3-2, Toronto.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Jeffers said.
Toronto is now riding a 3-game win streak.
