Giants Fall Short at Arizona
|
The Diamondbacks had to overcome a good performance from San Francisco pitcher Anthony DeSclafani to claim a 3-2 win at Chase Field. DeSclafani went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Arizona reliever Nick Gardewine picked up the win to move to 4-3. Brad Boxberger suffered the loss. Jandel Gustave was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.
The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from catcher Francisco Mejia. For the game, Mejia went 1-4. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 22nd hit of the season gave Arizona a 3-2 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mejia told reporters after the game.
Arizona now sits in 4th place in the National League West Division at 53-57.
