Padres Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus San Francisco
|
Padres second baseman Jose Altuve put his stamp on his team's 8-5 win over the San Francisco Giants. Altuve was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for San Diego in the contest. San Diego reliever Scott Alexander picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Chris Devenski shouldered the loss. Wander Suero notched his 2nd save in 4 chances.
Had Yadier Molina not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Molina hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Padres.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Altuve.
The first-place Padres have a one-game lead in their division.
