Rangers Lose to Astros, 6-3
|
Jeimer Candelario had a good game, but he could not keep the Texas Rangers from falling, 6-3, to the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The Texas third baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice in the loss. The winner was Hyun-jin Ryu, who threw 86 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. Tony Zych was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 10 save opportunities.
The Astros got a big at-bat from right fielder Jason Heyward. For the game, Heyward went 1 for 3 with a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 79th hit of the season gave Houston a 1-0 lead.
Heyward told a Houston Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Astros are now 49-57, while the Rangers fall to 68-38.
