Mets Take Tight Tilt, 2-1
|
The New York Mets took Washington pitcher Dustin May's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citi Field. The final score had New York getting past the Nationals, 2-1. May went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 9. The win hiked the New York record to 54-50.
The Mets were down to their final out when left fielder Ian Happ turned a 2-1 slider from Griffin Jax into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Citi Field crowd go wild.
"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager Larry Linke.
