Twins Beat Visiting Mariners, 9-3
|
Led by Ryan Mountcastle, the Minnesota Twins downed the Seattle Mariners, 9-3. Mountcastle went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Twins. Picking up the win was Kevin Gausman. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 0. The win boosts the Twins to 46-57. The loss puts the Mariners at 52-50.
With Minnesota leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Mountcastle hit a fastball from Zach Eflin for a grand slam home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Twins ahead, 5-0.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Mountcastle.
