Blue Jays Stun Mariners, 7-4
|
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners, 7-4. Doing his part was third baseman Evan Longoria, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Toronto reliever Jay Groome picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Felix Bautista shouldered the loss. Earning the save was Andres Munoz. He's now cashed in 10 of 13 save opportunities.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Mickey Moniak, the Toronto left fielder. Moniak had a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-4. For the game, Moniak had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I know we have our doubters," said Seattle manager Paul Golias. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
Toronto, with the win, climbs to 26-74.
