Boston Gets Another L, 9-4
|
The New York Mets topped the Boston Red Sox, 9-4, in National League action at Fenway Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Charlie Morton. Boston, at 35-64, has lost 7 straight.
New York got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Victor Caratini. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mets ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Caratini said. "We did a good job of that today."
