Diamondbacks Win, 5-3, Versus Reds
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Alex Verdugo, the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3. Verdugo was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs for the Diamondbacks. Arizona reliever Dinelson Lamet picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Bryan Abreu absorbed the loss. The win gives Arizona a season record of 56-43.
Arizona used the timely hitting of Anthony Rendon to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Diamondbacks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Verdugo said.
