The St. Louis Cardinals got a stellar performance from pitcher Wei-Yin Chen, who handcuffed the San Francisco offense en route to a 1-0 win at AT&T Park. Chen picked up the win for St. Louis, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-7. The 4th-place Cardinals lifted their record to 40-47.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Harrison Bader. For the game, Bader went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 87th hit of the season gave St. Louis a 1-0 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Chen said.
