Odorizzi 'Lights Out' in San Francisco Win
|
In a low-scoring game between the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Jake Odorizzi was masterful on the mound. The San Francisco right-hander was named the player of the game in San Francisco's 3-0 win. Brad Hand notched his 9th save in 12 chances. The Giants bumped their record to 48-39 with this latest triumph.
Odorizzi, who was born in Breese, Illinois, threw 97 pitches over 7 innings, while allowing no earned runs.
Afterward, Giants manager Jesse Vansickle was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
