Giants Come Back Late to Top Diamondbacks
|
The Giants had to overcome a fine performance from Arizona pitcher Julio Teheran to grab a 5-4 win at Chase Field. Teheran allowed 4 earned runs over 7 innings. Chris Devenski was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 9 save opportunities. The Giants bumped their record to 46-36 with this latest triumph.
Had Dustin Pedroia not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Pedroia hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Giants.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Pedroia said.
