Giants Edge Rockies, 3-2
|
The San Francisco Giants just keep winning.
In a low-scoring clash between San Francisco and Colorado, pitcher Max Scherzer was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for San Francisco in the 3-2 win. San Francisco reliever Brad Boxberger was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Joaquin Benoit.
Had Kyle Seager not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Seager hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Giants.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Seager. "And not try to do too much."
San Francisco has now won 12 games in a row.
