Indians Win at St. Louis, 5-2
|
Cleveland Indians starter Kenta Maeda was in fine form against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, leading his team to a 5-2 win. Maeda, now 6-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Brett Cecil, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Jose Ramirez, the 25-year old second baseman . Ramirez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Cleveland up, 4-2.
Maeda called the win "a collective effort."
The Cardinals, at 34-43, have lost 4 straight games.
