Nationals Need Extras to Top Rays
|
Despite a great performance by Tampa Bay second baseman Neil Walker, the Washington Nationals defeated the Rays by the score of 6-5 at Tropicana Field. Walker was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. Washington reliever David Robertson picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Erasmo Ramirez was collared with the loss. The Nationals bumped their record to 46-30 with this latest triumph.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the tenth, Andrew Benintendi hit a sacrifice fly. The Nationals took the lead, 5-4.
"We take it day by day here," said Benintendi, "and today was a good one for us."
