The Cleveland Indians got a stellar performance from pitcher Ervin Santana, who handcuffed the Chicago offense en route to a 4-2 win at Guaranteed Rate Field. Santana went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-7. Adam Warren notched his 2nd save in 5 chances.
Christian Yelich, who is on pace for 111 RBI this season, aided the Cleveland cause with a solo home run in the top of the third. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Chicago manager Corey Krentsa. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Cleveland is 23-41 and Chicago, with the loss, 37-29.
