Nationals Prevail, 5-3, Over San Francisco
|
The Washington Nationals stopped the San Francisco Giants, 5-3, at Nationals Park. The Nationals got a big game from Andrew Benintendi, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Brandon Woodruff picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-5. He struck out 6 in 6.1 innings. Adam Morgan, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities.
Aaron Hicks hit a 2-run double off Chris Hatcher in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Nationals in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Hicks had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Benintendi.
The Nationals bumped their record to 38-24 with this latest triumph.
