Giants Bang Out 6-1 Win Versus Colorado
|
San Francisco beat Colorado on the strength of starter Jake Odorizzi's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 6-1 win. Odorizzi went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-2. Brad Boxberger got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
The result might have been different for San Francisco, had it not been for Jon Jay. The center fielder produced a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Giants ahead, 2-0. For the game, Jay had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Giants manager Jesse Vansickle, "I like our chances."
The Giants bumped their record to 26-26 with this latest triumph.
