Jose Ruiz said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 25 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Reading Fightin Phils rising star has won the National Conference Reliever of the Year for 2020.

He captured the award on the strength of his 1.46 ERA over 55.1 innings. He also had 34 saves in 51 relief appearances, 87 strikeouts and only 18 walks.

He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Greg Mahle of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp finished second in voting, while Luis Jasso of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos finished third.
