Isotopes Prevail, as Round 2 Goes to the Wire
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020
The Albuquerque Isotopes and Las Vegas 51s didn't hold back anything in the Round 2, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Round 3.
Albuquerque won the final game by a score of 12-4 at Isotopes Park and that concluded the series, 4-3.
"Relief is the biggest thing," Albuquerque second baseman Gavin Lux said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Las Vegas deserves credit for the hard fight."
Lux paced the Albuquerque offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .423 with a .516 on-base percentage, 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 10 runs.
The Albuquerque Isotopes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Fresno Grizzlies - Omaha Storm Chasers series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
