Texas pitcher Matt Shoemaker did his part in helping his team beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Reliever Andrew Chafin picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Tommy Layne took the loss. Boston has now lost 4 in a row.

Texas took a 6-2 lead on Will D. Smith's 8th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Boston pitcher Colton Murray in the bottom of the seventh.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Smith told the Texas Chronicle.
