Oakland Gets 3-1 Road Win
|
Safeco Field was the site of a competitive game between the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics.
Oakland starter Charlie Morton had a strong outing against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-1 win. Morton, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Matt Barnes recorded the save for Oakland, his 8th of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Oakland, had it not been for Brock Holt, the 31-year old second baseman . Holt contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Oakland up, 3-0.
"Charlie did a tremendous job," said Oakland manager Scot Hughes.
At 21-24, the Athletics are currently last in the American League West Division.
