The Chicago White Sox got a strong performance from pitcher Ross Stripling, who stymied the San Francisco offense en route to a win, 4-0, at AT&T Park. In 8 innings, Stripling surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Trevor Gott finished to wrap up his 1st save.
It could have been a different outcome for Chicago, had it not been for Zack Granite, the 27-year old center fielder . Granite contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Chicago up, 1-0.
"Ross did a tremendous job," said Chicago manager Andrew Chapin.
At 16-22, Chicago is in last place in the American League Central Division.
