Mets Trip Cardinals, 6-5, in Extra Innings
|
Ian Happ made an impact in the 6-5 New York win over St. Louis. Happ, who is tied for 9th in the NL in stolen bases with 6, was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. New York reliever Giovanny Gallegos picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Zack Littell absorbed the loss. Justin Anderson picked up the save for New York, his 1st of the year.
Happ had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a full count fastball from Zack Littell, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Mets a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Happ.
In postgame remarks, Happ simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
The Mets improve their record to 17-21 with the win over St. Louis.
