Nationals Top Reds in Extras, 8-5
|
It was pandemonium at Nationals Park after an exciting walk-off win.
Chris Taylor was instrumental in his team's 8-5 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds. The second baseman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Washington Nationals. Washington reliever Steve Hathaway was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Sal Romano took the loss.
Washington won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Sal Romano on the mound for Cincinnati, shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Nationals fans to their feet.
"It was a solid team effort," said Taylor after the game.
With the win, the Nationals hiked their record to 19-14.
