Astros Held in Check by Mariners, Lose, 2-1
|
Seattle Mariners pitcher Ivan Nova was in fine form, leading his team past the Houston Astros, 2-1. Nova, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Emilio Pagan closed it out for his 1st save.
Yoenis Cespedes put Seattle in front, 2-0, when he hit a solo home run off Carlos Rodon in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 3rd home run of the season.
"We had a good game plan," Nova said, "and we were able to execute it."
