Orioles Stun Royals, 4-2
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a stellar performance from pitcher Danny Duffy, who handcuffed the Kansas City offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Carlos Estevez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 2-2. Baltimore is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 21 games.
Baltimore used the clutch hitting of Daniel Murphy to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Orioles the lead, 4-2. For the game, Murphy had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Duffy said.
