Phillies Bridle Reds, 3-1
|
In a tight affair between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds, pitcher Tanner Roark was in the zone. The Philadelphia right-hander helped his team win the game, 3-1. In 6 innings, Roark surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Kenley Jansen was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Wilmer Flores to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"This was a tough loss," said Cincinnati manager Brad S. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
Philadelphia is now 10-5.
