Diamondbacks Stun Giants, 3-1
|
Gleyber Torres was a vital contributor to the 3-1 Arizona victory over San Francisco. The Diamondbacks second baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Arizona reliever Eric Stout picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Sam Selman was tagged with the loss. Keone Kela got the save, the 5th for him this season.
Torres had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Sam Selman, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Diamondbacks a 3-1 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Torres.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Torres said after the game.
The Giants drop to 6-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2020 season.
