Miami Roughed Up By Nationals
|
A 4-RBI performance from second baseman Jed Lowrie, who finished 2nd in the AL in doubles with 45 in 2013, led the Washington Nationals to a win over the Miami Marlins, 9-1. Corey Kluber got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 8 and walking 0. The Marlins fall to 4-9 and continue their lackluster start in 2020.
With Washington leading 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Lowrie came up to bat against Miami pitcher Emmanuel Clase. Lowrie hit a cutter to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Nationals on top, 9-1.
"We took it on the chin today," said losing manager Pat Padula.
