Athletics Tag Angels with 1-0 Loss
|
Jordan Montgomery never let the Angels get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Athletics to a win, 1-0. Montgomery, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Matt Barnes, his 2nd.
Kurt Suzuki, the 36-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Suzuki contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Oakland up, 1-0.
Montgomery called the win "a team effort."
The Angels, now 4-8, continue their slow start.
