Reds Need Extra Innings to Top Pirates, 6-5
|
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at PNC Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5. Starting pitcher Danny Salazar was a big reason why. Cincinnati reliever Felix Hernandez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Fernando Romero was tagged with the loss. The win gives Cincinnati a record of 5-4.
Adalberto Mondesi had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With the bases empty, he hit a single. It helped send Cincinnati to the win.
"Danny was able to execute his pitches," said Cincinnati manager Brad S. "Simple as that."
