The Texas Rangers did just enough to secure a victory over the Seattle Mariners, 3-2, at Safeco Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Yonny Chirinos. Texas goes to 2-1.

Texas used a clutch hit from Andrelton Simmons to get the win. The shortstop drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Texas manager Jake Storiale said.
