Mets Edge Past Nationals, 2-1
|
Washington wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Corey Kluber, losing to New York, 2-1, at Citi Field. Corey Knebel, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. The win has New York at 1-1.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York pinch hitter Kyle Farmer, facing Kyle Crick, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Mets the 2-1 win.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Washington manager Maurice Hamilton, "let me know."
